Microsoft-Centric Technology Lilly Software Associates exploits Microsoft®-centric technologies such as Visual Basic, C++, the .NET Framework, and others to deliver the applications that manufacturers and distributors demand.
Windows 98/ME/2000/XP Client support for Window 98 and later. All Lilly Software products support PC clients.
Technology For smaller installations, VISUAL Jobshop runs on peer-to-peer networks from a Microsoft Access® database. Both VISUAL Jobshop and VISUAL Enterprise work well in a client /server environment.
Databases Supported Lilly Software ships VISUAL Jobshop LT and Premier with a Microsoft 2000 compatible database that you can easily migrate to your current version of Access, if needed. Jobshop also supports, but is not shipped with, SQLServer™. SQLServer offers larger database size, increased performance, and tighter security features over Access.
Language Support Lilly Software is a global company with offices in 30 countries. Our multi-lingual product strategy is based on local support for each language.
Concurrent Users Supported Lilly Software prices VISUAL products by the options and number of concurrent users licensed. Concurrent users should not be confused with named users. You can establish virtually unlimited named users because the applications track the number of simultaneous named users (or concurrent users) logged into the system at any one time. When a user attempts to login but exceeds the system user count, they will receive a simple system message that alerts them to this error. VISUAL Jobshop LT is available in 1 and 5 user SKUs. Other products are available in incremental user counts.
Advanced Work Group Functionality VISUAL Jobshop Premier includes the capability to share data “documents” between users. For example, a user can send a part master as an e-mail attachment for another user to open and share. Companies can also use these documents for remote users, data updates, and other specialized business scenarios.
Preformatted Crystal Reports All VISUAL products use preformatted Crystal Reports® from Business Objects. Users can take any of the system’s standard reports, customize them using Crystal Reports, and Jobshop will execute them.
Implementation Tools Lilly Software offers extensive implementation tools. For VISUAL Jobshop LT and Premier, this includes context-sensitive help, online books, an interactive Getting Started Wizard, a Getting Started Guide, and extensive demonstrations. Companies can also benefit from call-in help, on-site consulting, classroom training, Internet-based training, and on-going tiered support plans.
General Companies can control access to screens on a user-role basis. VISUAL Jobshop LT does not offer authority control.
User Defined Fields VISUAL Jobshop Premier offers up to 10 user-defined fields for customers, parts, and suppliers. Companies can also use these fields as an additional file link by mapping to a path and executing that file.
Quoting and Estimating In Premier users can have multiple quantities per quote line, each with separate mark-ups for items such as purchased materials, fabricated materials, labor, burden (overhead), and outside services. Users can mark-up components at individual rates and determine a final price for finished goods. They also have the ability to override final price and apply a user-specified price and special discounts. Users can generate printed quotes and automatically determine the most economical supplier prices for a given quantity of material and incorporate that information into the quote. A Quote Proforma report allows users to manage a backlog of quotes and specify what quantity on particular quotes is most likely to generate business. Not available in VISUAL Jobshop LT.
Customer Management In both systems, you can define customers, default information, and Ship To information and use this data for quoting and estimating. The system automatically updates any changes you make to this info in all relevant fields, eliminating redundant data entry.
Sales Order Management Both systems enable you to take multiple line sales orders, each with their own delivery dates and requirements, and have different Ship To addresses for those orders.
Sales Tax Management Both systems allow you to establish tax groups to handle different tax authorities (state, federal, bureau).
Unique Ship Dates by Order and/or Order Line Line level desired ship dates enable you to manage your specific customer requirements.
Drop Shipping Both systems allow you to conveniently perform drop shipping (take orders from one address and deliver them to a different address).
Ship from Stock or Job You can produce parts on the shop floor and either receive them into stock for later shipment, use them in other work orders, or ship right from the floor thereby reducing unnecessary inventory transactions.
Invoicing VISUAL Jobshop LT and Premier allow you to have one invoice per shipper (pack list) with multiple shippers per sales order. You can have partial shipments that generate multiple shippers (e.g., if you have an order for 10 parts, you can ship 5 now and 5 later), but you will have one invoice for each shipment.
Sales Tracking and Analysis Both systems allow you to run reports, see who you ship to, how much you ship, and analyze sales data.
Pricing VISUAL Jobshop Premier allows you to assign customers to classes and allocate different pricing and discounts to those classes. You can assign specific price breaks on a customer-by-customer relationship. Perform price breaks for suppliers and set quantities for given discounts.
Part Maintenance Both systems allow you to define part records and define individual default masters. You can easily list part attributes, including whether or not you purchased or fabricated the part, default price, helpful descriptions, and default supplier.
Document and Drawing Management Both systems offer the ability to assign drawing numbers or link document files to given parts. After you link the files, you can execute them directly within each system based on the Windows file type association.
Engineering, Part and Process Easily create Bills of Material (BOM) and routings, including complex structures 30+ layers deep.
Fixed and Variable Setup Estimating Using engineering masters, you can factor in fixed scrap so that when you copy the master into a work order, you estimate the right amount of material for the job. You can estimate scrap at the part-specific level or at an operation-specific level. After you define a scrap quantity, it inflates all upstream material requirements enabling you to accurately predict production needs. Not available in VISUAL Jobshop LT.
Work Order Variables Set up families of parts where your raw materials vary per a given formula. For instance, in a stamping operation, if you enter length, thickness of material, and how many parts in a given operation, the system will use a formula to determine the raw materials needed.
Operation Templates Predefine work flow operations that commonly occur across multiple jobs. This eases the data entry needed to create a Bill of Materials routing or masters. VISUAL Jobshop Premier offers operation Templates.
Outside Service Definition and Estimating Define outside services, such as plating, finishing, painting. Integral to managing routing.
Where Used Functions Both systems allow you to determine which parts/operations you use in routings or masters. This is convenient for maintaining BOMs and determining the effects of changes to raw material.
Cost Resetting You can take fluctuations in raw materials costs or operations/overhead costs and carry them throughout the BOM.
Engineering Change Control VISUAL Jobshop LT allows you to have one master defined per Part ID. VISUAL Jobshop Premier allows you to have an unlimited number of masters per Part ID and allows you to label one of those as the default master. By controlling, at the part maintenance level, which master you will use in normal production, you gain basic engineering change control.
Material, Labor, Overhead & Service Costing Collect costs against a given work order and roll them into the parts you produce. The system gathers numbers through various mechanisms and allows you to compare actual costs versus estimated costs using labor, material, and outside services.
Inventory Costing Actual Inventory Costing, known as First In First Out (FIFO) by Location, accurately tracks the landed cost of parts at the time they enter inventory. By receiving and purchasing to stock, the system creates costing layers that remain as long as parts stay in inventory, capturing your production costs exactly.
External Accounting Application Support VISUAL Jobshop LT and Premier offer support for a variety of accounting packages.
Currency With an optional module, you can specify currency other than your system currency for Windows, allowing you to do business with other countries. This is done on the order level.
Inventory Management Both systems allow you to specify multiple bins and shelves. They also allow you to buy, stock, and sell in different units of measure using global conversion features. VISUAL Jobshop LT does not allow you to perform part specific unit conversions.
Quantity Adjustments, Transfers and Counts Gain the tools to easily adjust the quantities of what you have in stock and see how the adjustments affect costs. Perform physical counts more accurately and efficiently.
Hold (Quaranteen) Locations With VISUAL Jobshop Premier, you can put parts on hold, which is important with ISO certification for quarantining non-conforming materials.
Work in Process Both systems allow you to take material from stock and issue it to a work order. You can effectively manage Work-In-Process, absorb costs into work orders, and manage receipts into inventory.
Lot/Serial Tracking VISUAL Jobshop Premier allows you to perform basic lot and serial tracking for selected parts. Every time you transact a tracked part, you must specify the lot or serial number. If you are buying into stock or receiving parts that never existed, then you must specify which lot number to receive in. For shipping, you must specify the lots being shipped in addition to the quantities.
Dimensional Inventory Tracking VISUAL Jobshop Premier enables you to track “how much” material you have, as well as record three different size dimensions for a given unit of measure for those materials. For example, you can easily track the length and width of your steel plate inventory without the need to set up a separate part number for every size.
Finite and Infinite Resource Scheduling VISUAL Jobshop Premier offers tools for creating quick and simple production schedules. You can create a standard shop schedule using finite (machine time, labor) and infinite (outside services, cooling time) resources. By defining capacity for your resources and using this to build schedules, you can develop realistic plans and determine where you can take action to be more efficient.
Concurrent Resource Scheduling Define multiple resources that operate at the same time. For example, if a machine and a particular operator must run together for an operation, the system will ensure that it does not schedule this task unless both resources are available.
Resource Utilization Tracking VISUAL Jobshop Premier offers a report to help you track Resource Utilization. After you run the production schedule, you can quickly see the percentage of time a resource is busy versus how much time is available.
Material Planning Define safety stock and reorder points for parts. The system will alert you when projected material requirements dip below the predefined points, allowing you to make or buy stock for replenishment.
Material Netting of Released Orders Whether you have a simple or complex master, material netting allows you to consolidate your material requirements based on work orders and sales orders and determine necessary part quantities.
Material Planning and Scheduling In VISUAL Jobshop Premier, you can use the horizon date to analyze supply and demand. Set a horizon date by looking from today into the near future and plan by understanding all the material requirements for that time frame.
Linked Work Order/Raw Material Consolidation VISUAL Jobshop Premier allows you to link work orders and consolidate raw materials across work orders. You can also consolidate multiple sales order lines against a common work order.
Supplier Management With Supplier Management, you can define suppliers and vendors and set up attributes and terms of business.
Purchase Oder Management, Schedules and Tracking Both systems allow you to create purchase orders automatically. You can maintain individual lines, each with their own delivery dates and also manage outside services.
Purchased Receipts to Stock or Job You can receive purchased parts to stock, to job, or to a combination of both using Part IDs. The systems allow you to receive parts to a single job or multiple jobs and receive overage into stock. Parts that you purchase without a Part ID are called description-only materials. These parts can be received to a job without receiving to stock if they are bought against a job, or, you can expense them against an account.
RMA Both systems have tools to help you return materials to suppliers.
Supplier Performance Tracking Track pricing, quality performance, and delivery performance by suppliers and analyze how they perform over time. Not available in VISUAL Jobshop LT.
Shop Resource Definition A shop resource definition correlates to a person, place, or thing needed to complete a job. For example, this can be a work center or a group of work centers with common functionality. The resource definition includes numbers on what it costs to operate from a labor and overhead standpoint. Resources are specified on routings, called Masters, and copied into work orders. You can report time against the resources and allocate costs. Resources can be internal as well as outside services.
Shop Floor Travelers Travelers are printed versions of work orders. The printed paper accompanies work, listing job descriptions, materials required, and perhaps barcodes for labor data collection. It makes a job easy to identify on the floor and is vital to ensuring quality.
Direct or Indirect Labor Tracking VISUAL Jobshop Premier and LT allow you to track labor that goes into the parts you produce (called Direct Labor). You can also track Indirect Labor (effort expended for actions outside of part manufacturing).
Bar Code Labor Tracking Labor Data Collection is standard functionality in VISUAL Jobshop Premier. A barcode scanner wedge fits between your keyboard and computer for easy access. Optionally, you can have additional wedge barcode scanners on the shop floor.
Employee and Resource Efficiency Tracking Both systems allow you to print reports based on the labor recorded. You can analyze which employees are more efficient and generate lists of labor charged against payroll.
Basic Part Quality Tracking System tools allow you to track the quality of parts by assigning a reason code to scrapped parts produced. After recording this information, you can use Quality Analysis reports and Pareto Analysis graphs to help determine any issues that require your attention.
